Seventh grade Bible delves into God’s story through a study of the Old Testament.  The study begins with an overview of Old Testament themes focusing in on God’s call, covenant, faithfulness, and salvation plan.  Students will see the history of God’s love for his people and understand the same love is reserved for them.  Through the study of and celebration of seven Jewish feasts, students will see and celebrate God’s faithfulness and covenant.   Students will, through the study of the books of Job, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, grapple  with the ideas of a fallen world, our struggle with the powers of evil, and God’s sovereignty and salvation.  Students will recognize God’s sovereignty over the universe as well as the details of our lives no matter how meager our understanding of His will or ways.  Students will reflect on what it means to trust God’s goodness and power.      Students will engage in the discipline of prayer.  They will study and put into practice prayer journaling,  structured prayer models and listening prayer.  Students will study the prayer lives of OT people in order to better understand why God’s answer to our prayers may be no, why it is important to pray for our enemies, and how faithful prayer can align our prayers with God’s will.
